A big signing to finish with ahead of our pre season game tomorrow against Cardiff Met Archers. Towering over the rest of the team 7ft 4in Centre Mike Lewis joins Raiders for the upcoming NBL season. Lewis was a junior Raider so comes full circle linking up with Coach Laws and the team this season. Having played National League in various divisions, GB masters and multiple 3x3 elite events it’s clear to see why the big man is a Raider.
Head coach Gareth Laws had a lot of praise for his new centre saying “Mike is one of the most recognisable players in the south-west, not only because of his height, but because his solid game that comes along with it.”
“He has a wealth of knowledge and experience having played at a variety of levels, including internationally, but combined with an amazing skill set it makes him a matchup nightmare at both ends of the floor.”
“Defensively, he covers a lot of ground and makes attacking the basket very daunting. Offensively he is able to rely on his shooting ability, his great hands and movement around the basket. Mike is an exceptional passer and looks to get players involved.”
“I know Mike, like the rest of us, is dedicated and motivated to get the Plymouth Raiders back to the top of national league basketball.”
The former junior Raider added “Having starting my basketball career with Raiders at a junior level, being involved now putting Raiders back on the map means everything to me.”
“I will bring my offensive and defensive rebounding to the squad with the ability to finish within a 15-17ft range with a great percentage.”
“An undefeated season is the only goal, followed by promotion to NBL div 2”
“Winning mentality, hustle until we win!”
