The Plymouth Raiders have sigRon - For Website.pngned Ron Mvouika after an impressive trial weekend, notching up 16 points and 5 rebounds against the London City Royals, followed by 17 points and 7 rebounds the following day, when the team made the short trip down to face the Surrey Scorchers.

The 28-year-old guard, originally from Paris, France, was only present in two training sessions prior to the games but showed heart and tenacity to put in two fine performances despite the limited time with the squad.

The 6’6” Mvouika finished his college career at St. John’s, where he averaged 7.6 points and 3.78 rebounds per game, abut has applied his trade for the past two season with Germany Pro B side,  Bayer Giants Leverkusen, where he averaged 10.62 points and 2.46 rebounds in his final season.

Raiders’ Head Coach, Paul James, said: “I’m delighted to welcome Ron back to Plymouth.  Given the limited time Ron had with us prior to the game, we couldn’t have expected more of him over that weekend, and I’m very excited to see what he can do given time to settle.

“Everyone has trained hard the last few days, and both Ron and Samuel have made a big difference to the squad so far.”

Mvouika’s most recent trial was the second with the Club, having spent a few days in Plymouth at the start of the 2017-18 season, however second time’s the charm for both club and player as the team prepare to start their BBL Championship campaign.

Speaking of his move to Plymouth, Mvouika said “I’m thankful and grateful for the opportunity that’s being given to me here in Plymouth.  I could have been here earlier, I came two years ago and for different reason we couldn’t get it done, but this time around it’s worked out for the best and I’m finally glad and happy to be here. 

“I’ve visited and played all around the globe, so I’m bringing some experience to the team, veteran knowledge for the younger guys, and trying to do for them what my elders did for me.  

“As far as on the court, I will leave that to the fans to see, so come to the Pavilions, it’s going to be a fun season, we have every tool we need to do something special and I’m looking forward it.”
